Your needs can conveniently be met with the latest of modern equipment and an experienced, qualified, caring staff. The staff of our department has received specialized training and certification in order to meet your needs in the most professional way. They are also committed to providing quality care in an environment that respects your needs of privacy, dignity, confidentiality and respect.

Regional Hospital of Jackson offers a wide range of diagnostic and interventional imaging through its seven board certified radiologists who are on staff and available to interpret radiology tests around the clock. For more information on Advanced Radiology and their services, please visit xraymd.com.

Our Services Include:

  • Fluoroscopy: A form of diagnostic radiology that enables the radiologist to visualize an area of interest via “real-time” x-rays. The patient is given a contrast agent, which allows the image to be viewed clearly on an x-ray monitor. This contrast may be given through injection, swallowing or an enema. The following are common fluoroscopic exams: Barium Swallow, Upper GI, Barium Enema, Small Bowel Series and Intravenous Pyelogram.

  • Helical CT Scan: A specialized examination using a combination of x-rays and computer technology to produce cross-sectional images of the body giving detailed information for the diagnosis. We currently have a Phillips 16 Channel Multi-Detector CT scanner, which gives us the capability of quickly and accurately performing technically advanced procedures such as CT angiography and cardiac imaging. All of our experienced radiology technologists are certified to perform CT scans.

  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging: MRI is a sophisticated diagnostic technique that uses a magnetic field, radio waves and a computer to generate detailed, cross-sectional images of the human body. Radiation is not used to produce these images. MRI is most commonly used to image the brain, spine, thorax, vascular system and musculoskeletal system. Our MRI allows us to perform most MRI tests including MR angiography. Our MRI is the only MRI in Madison County that is accredited by the American College of Radiology. Also, all MRI procedures are performed by registered MRI technologists.

  • Mammography: Mammography is an x-ray procedure that uses low-dose radiation to create an image of breast tissue. This is the best way to detect breast cancer in women. At Regional Hospital, patients can have their mammograms performed by a registered mammographer in the privacy and convenience of the Women’s Imaging Center. Our mammography program is ACR and FDA (MQSA) accredited. For more information on mammography and other procedures offered for our female patients, go to the Women's Imaging Center.
    .
  • Nuclear Medicine: Nuclear Medicine is sometimes referred to as the “inside-out” x-ray, because it records radiation emitted from the patient’s body instead of passing through. Nuclear Medicine uses small doses of radioactive materials to create images of the patient’s anatomy. We offer most all studies available along with isotopic therapy, including cardiac, bone, lung, thyroid, gallbladder, renal, and hyperthyroid therapy for emergent problems.

  • Ultrasound: Utilizes high-frequency sound waves, which are reflected by tissue in the body. The sound is processed by a computer to produce an image. Common exams include: gallbladder, kidneys, vascular and pelvic exams, as well as obstetric exams.. New modern-day ultrasound equipment was recently installed which allows us to perform all of the latest ultrasound procedures, including echocardiography, vascular studies, abdominal, OB/Gyn and 3D studies. Our ultrasound is ACR accredited. All procedures are performed by registered ultrasound technologists.

  • Interventional Radiology: Interventional Radiology is the medical specialty devoted to advancing patient care through the innovative integration of clinical and imaging-based diagnosis and minimally invasive therapy. The following procedures are some of the interventions performed by our hospital radiologists:

    • Abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA)
    • Peripheral vascular/arterial disease (PVD or PAD)
    • Angiography
    • Radiofrequency ablation
    • Angioplasty & stent placement
    • Cancer treatments
    • Uterine Fibroid Embolization
    • Children needing less invasive and less stressful surgical alternatives
    • Varicoceles & Male Infertility
    • Chronic pelvic pain interventions in women
    • Intervention for Varicose Veins, Deep Vein Thrombosis, and Vascular Disease
    • Placement of Gastrostomy (feeding tubes) and Venous access catheters
    • Needle Biopsy
    • Vertebroplasty

For additional information about interventions performed by our radiologists, go to xraymd.com.

Each of our services can be scheduled Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. as well as after hours and weekends for emergent care. For more information about the services of the Radiology Department of Regional Hospital of Jackson, please call (731) 661-2115.
